Hi.
I am fixing now a Designjet 500 that have an error 81:01.
So i made a "Paper Advance Test" and right at the beginning of the test it gave me a Roller encoder sensor failed error.
I dismantled the encoder and clean it, but still the same error. Do i need to replace the Roller encoder sensor ?
Could there be also a Paper-axis motor problem, does it need to be replace?
I also try to align the print head and.......... the roller seems to shΙft a little bit (always at the same place) and give me the error 81:01
I change also Rolller enconder Sensor ..but exactly +exactly ...the same error occures...
Thanks for your support.

The sensor does fail and the disk itself can get dirty/damaged. Until you get that part of the machine working properly you can't really do anything about calibrating the printheads.
